Management Review


Top management conducts food safety management system review meetings at planned intervals to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness. This review includes assessing opportunities for improvement and the need for change to the FSMS and the Food Safety Policy. Records of management review meetings are kept and used to update the system as necessary.

Review Input

Input to management review is based on the 5 Ms of Money, Machinery, Materials, Methods and Mother Nature throughout the entire food chain bearing in mind follow up actions from;

  • Previous management reviews,

  • Analysis of results of verification activities,

  • Changing circumstances that can affect food safety,

  • Emergency situations,

  • Accidents and withdrawals,

  • System updating activities,

  • Communication activities and consumer feedback

  • External audits or inspections.

Review Output

Output from the management review includes decisions and actions related to;


  • Assurance of food safety

  • Improvement of the effectiveness of the food safety management system

  • Resource needs

  • Revisions of the organization ’s food safety policy and related objectives

  • Customer satisfaction

  • Regulatory compliance
